Completed in 2015, Getaway by Fraerman Associates Architecture is a 2,026-square-foot residence that integrates elements of seaside shingle style architecture with a contemporary, open layout. The site is accessed by a maple tree-lined drive leading to a drive court, framing the approach to the house’s double-gabled front façade. Interior circulation unfolds through a series of connected rooms before concluding at a two-story, book-lined library positioned as a focal point of the home. The primary living spaces are oriented toward a pool house, pool, and rear yard, with a long, curving veranda designed to provide shade during summer. Programmatically, the house includes an open kitchen, indoor spa at ground level, a children’s computer lounge, and a yoga room integrated into the master suite. The basement is configured for recreation with a theater, exercise area, playroom, and a sport room with a 15-foot ceiling. Sustainable features include solar panels, discreetly positioned to supply hot water, and a green roof area incorporated into the design.
