Sepi Residence

Sepi Residence is a family home designed by Frank Harmon Architect PA in E Peace, North Carolina. The client, a civil engineer, requested a comfortable house with three bedrooms, a two-car garage, a swimming pool, and a flat roof on a hillside lot in a transforming neighborhood known for its midcentury ranch homes. The project responds both to a shifting residential context and the client's belief in the impact of thoughtful design on daily life. To provide a sense of shelter while maintaining openness, the design organizes the main living spaces around a central courtyard and pool. The living room, dining area, kitchen, and screened porch are oriented to capture prevailing southwest summer breezes, while three parallel hedges buffer these private zones from the street and create privacy. A 24-foot-wide sliding door connects the interior to outdoor amenities, linking the pool, courtyard, and a distant music pavilion. The flat roof, clad in zinc, wraps around northern and southern exposures, contributing both to the house’s insulation and its modernist character.
