about 1

About 1 is a residence designed by Noelle Martinez and located in Boise. The project was shaped by considerations of both site context and the client's personal routines, producing a home tailored to the nuances of daily living in its specific Boise setting. The design approach balances the requirements of a modern lifestyle with an understanding of the area's established residential patterns. The house draws on elements of farmhouse modern and traditional architecture, interpreted through a contemporary lens. Spaces are organized to address both privacy and openness, responding to the proportions and orientation of the lot. Attention was paid to environmental conditions and integration with the neighborhood context. The palette and detailing reflect a synthesis of old and new, with the architect selecting materials and forms to connect the residence to its location while providing functionality appropriate for current living standards.
