Description
Linden is a beautiful spot in Virginia, along the stretch of mountains and valleys just to the East of the Blue Ridge Mountains. The homeowners, beginning a new phase of their life, are starting a vineyard and winery and were therefore in need of a forever home to overlook their business. The house site was selected for its ideal topography, rich soil and magnificent views of the mountains. The house is positioned halfway up the sloping property to elevate it above a nearby highway, minimizing the sound of the passing cars while maximizing the south facing views of the mountains. The basic layout of the house consists of a two-story center structure, intersected by three shorter south facing appendages. Each appendage is connected by a glass filled gasket piece that extends east and west to reveal itself at each end of the house. There is smaller secondary gasket element on the north side of the structure that connects a small office at the west end of the house. The office has a clear view of the vineyard, which is further west on the property.
