Transart

Transart is a modern, 4,400-square-foot residence situated in Canton, Georgia, designed by Round Table Design Studio in direct response to its steep and intricate terrain. The project’s configuration addresses the challenges of a sloped site by employing a narrow, elongated plan, allowing the structure to sit in continuity with the landscape rather than dominating its environment. The orientation takes advantage of the wooded setting and a stream at the rear, which influenced both the alignment and the programmatic layout of the home. The architectural approach features hallmark mid-century modern elements such as pronounced horizontal lines, low-pitched roofs, and a selective use of materials to echo the natural context. A progression of fluid living, dining, and kitchen areas extends along the length of the house, with each function maintaining its own identity within an overall open plan. Generous glazing and carefully positioned openings facilitate daylight penetration and maintain sightlines to the wooded surroundings. Private spaces, including three bedrooms and three bathrooms, are purposefully set apart from the communal zones. Outdoor living is addressed with a deck at the rear, providing elevated views and reinforcing the residence’s connection to its site.
