Transart

Transart is a 4,400 square foot Mid-Century Modern residence designed to carefully negotiate a complex, sloped site while maintaining clarity of form and plan. The home’s long, narrow footprint responds directly to the constraints of the terrain, allowing the architecture to sit lightly within the landscape rather than dominate it. The exterior composition emphasizes horizontal lines, low-pitched roof planes, and a restrained material palette, all hallmarks of mid-century design. These elements work together to visually anchor the home into the hillside while guiding views toward the wooded backdrop and the stream that runs along the rear of the site. Inside, the layout unfolds as a series of connected open-plan living spaces that follow the length of the home. Living, dining, and kitchen areas flow together, creating a sense of continuity while still allowing each zone to feel distinct. Large windows and carefully placed openings pull natural light deep into the plan and maintain constant visual connection to the surrounding trees. The home includes three bedrooms and three bathrooms, with private spaces intentionally separated from the main living areas to enhance the feeling of retreat. A rear deck extends the living space outward, offering a quiet vantage point overlooking the trees and stream below, reinforcing the home’s relationship to its setting.
