Highland Drive

Highland Drive by Shugart Wasse reworks a condominium in Seattle, Washington, with a focus on modern aesthetics and a program that foregrounds the city’s characteristic views. The reorganization of the floor plan places communal spaces along an expansive glass facade, framing outlooks toward Seattle, Elliot Bay, and Mount Rainier as primary visual anchors within the layout. The design employs blue and green glass mosaic tiles throughout the unit, referencing the natural tones of the sky and bay, while extensive wood casework is used to evoke the region’s forested landscape and introduce warmth to the interior. Clean lines and a restrained palette reinforce the sense of openness and maintain visual connections between the residence and its surroundings.
