Stanev Potts Architects — Philadelphia, PA

The Church residence features a traditional gable roof with dormers and green window shutters, set amidst a spacious, landscaped lawn.

The Church residence in Philadelphia was reconfigured by Stanev Potts Architects to address evolving needs without significantly altering the exterior appearance. The clients sought internal changes that would improve functionality while preserving the character of their home. The architects focused on maximizing usable space and resolving comfort issues within the existing structure. The design added 500 square feet to the second floor by replacing a slanted roof at the rear with a conventional square roof, maintaining the home’s original appearance from the street. An unused breezeway at the back was enclosed with new insulation and flooring, converting it into a practical area. These interventions prioritized internal improvements, allowing the house to better support the daily life of the residents while keeping its familiar facade intact.
