Stelle Architects — Suffolk County, New York
Peconic Bay Residence by Stelle Architects is located on a bluff in Suffolk County, New York, set among cedar and locust trees overlooking the bay. The site's elevation and surrounding grove informed the organization of the house, which arranges distinct public and private volumes along a central promenade that directs movement both indoors and out. Single-story volumes are arranged with glass connectors, reducing the visual impact of the house on its site while allowing for high-ceilinged interior spaces as specified by the client. The project employs sustainable, low-maintenance materials, and incorporates advanced building systems such as geothermal heating and cooling, energy-efficient glazing, and high-performance insulation. These measures allow the residence to exceed Energy Star requirements for energy efficiency.
