J Street Residence

ALIS Architecture — Newport Beach peninsula

Exterior front of the J Street Residence showing wood siding, black window frames, and glass balconies.

Located on a narrow 30’ wide x 100’ deep lot in the Newport Beach peninsula, this project was naturally inward focused due to close proximity of neighbors and limited street presence. Responding to it’s context, the home was designed as a jewelbox, with a minimalist approach to trim and detailing, intentionally focusing on showcasing the materials and curated spaces of the home. The entry to the home through a tall volume with skylights connects the open floor living space at ground level and the more intimate Den and bedrooms suites above. Rich wood tones along the entry accent wall blend into build-ins and cabinetry that tie the upstairs and downstairs; natural stone, earthy plaster, and mixed metal accents create a consistent design language and organic feel throughout the home.
