Mid-Century Beach House

BC&J Architects — Bainbridge Island, WA

Living room of the Mid-Century Beach House features leather seating and floor-to-ceiling glass doors overlooking the garden.

Located on Bainbridge Island, the Mid-Century Beach House by BC&J Architects is a series of remodels and additions to a 1960s beachfront residence. The property originally featured small, austere spaces that did not suit the needs of a family of four. The phased project began with updates to the bedroom wing, followed by an expansion and reconfiguration of the main living areas. Alterations involved converting an existing carport into a new entry sequence, adding a family room, gallery, home office, and powder room. Other adjustments included a utility and laundry space, a redesigned kitchen, reworked porch, and a new living room layout with a relocated fireplace.
