Mercer Island Residence

Mercer Island Residence is a modern home by Build LLC located on a wooded, steep-sloped site overlooking Lake Washington. The residence was designed for a growing family, with the orientation and massing shaped by the terrain and the desire to maximize daylight and lake views while maintaining privacy. The siting also responds to the site's environmentally sensitive conditions, prompting a design that minimizes impact on the land. The house is organized to allow for outdoor living and integrates access to the landscape. The plan separates private rooms from shared entertaining areas, supporting flexibility in how the spaces can be used over time. Large glazed openings and thoughtful placement of rooms enable both exposure to natural light and seclusion from the surroundings.
