Desert House is a modern residence by Marmol Radziner Architecture located in a desert setting, where the interior and architectural approach responds to both the site’s arid character and the natural surroundings. The design brief focused on creating a fluid relationship between interior and exterior spaces, aimed at diminishing the boundary between the built environment and the landscape. The architecture is defined by its modern lines and open plan, while the interior employs natural materials and a restrained color palette drawn from the local environment. Custom furniture was conceived for adaptability, suited to both indoor and outdoor applications, and fabricated using materials such as cotton, raw silk, and linen in muted tones. This approach emphasizes texture and materiality, allowing the interplay between the house and the desert landscape to take precedence in the lived experience.
