Vienna Way Residence

Vienna Way Residence, designed by Marmol Radziner Architecture, is a modern home situated in Venice, California. The project was commissioned for a family, with a focus on strong connections between indoor and outdoor living within a site defined by a native California landscape. The design responds to the site by dividing the property into thirds using two principal building volumes placed near the plot's boundaries, shaping both interior and exterior zones. A sunken kitchen bridges these two volumes at the center of the plan, functioning as the core of the house where public and private areas converge. Floor-to-ceiling glazing is used throughout to maximize openness and sightlines, allowing the kitchen to overlook the pool and adjacent yards. Outdoor living areas are interspersed to enhance continuity between the home's social spaces and the surrounding garden, while the central pool forms a key visual connection uniting the different volumes of the residence.
