Tidewater is the renovation of a midcentury residence in a wooded coastal community north of Rehoboth Beach, Delaware. Moto Designshop approached the project after several decades of neglect and unsympathetic alterations had compromised the original home. The brief called for a comprehensive restoration that would reestablish a strong connection with the surrounding landscape and update the internal arrangement for contemporary living. The design strategy involved removing previous additions and interior partitions to clarify the home's structure and establish a more open sequence of spaces. Materials were selected to echo the era of the house, with warm woods and charcoal-toned millwork creating a tactile balance between midcentury character and crisp, modern detailing. The new layout opens interior spaces toward the landscape, supporting a visual and experiential continuity between indoors and out, as intended in the original architectural language.
