Resolution 4 Architecture — New York, NY, 2012

Dune Road Beach House in East Quogue, NY features floor-to-ceiling glazing and exterior lighting, shown at dusk.

Dune Road Beach House is a contemporary residence designed by Resolution 4 Architecture, situated on a rare flag lot on the eastern end of Long Island, New York. Completed in 2012, the house occupies a 2,200-square-foot footprint shaped by strict zoning regulations and the site's coastal context. It replaces an aging bungalow set atop an oceanfront dune, a location that required the dune itself to be reconstructed before construction could proceed. The property is located on a narrow barrier island, permitting sweeping views south toward the Atlantic and north across bay and marshland, accessible only by bridges from the mainland.
