The Hagerstrom Residence, located on Bradley Road in Point Pleasant, New Jersey, is the result of a comprehensive renovation and elevation of an existing 1960s traditional home. Completed in 2022, the project addressed the site's placement within a FEMA AE8 flood zone by raising the structure from elevation +8.7’ to +15.4’ above sea level. The architectural brief included a full exterior and interior transformation, with the primary goal of updating the dated residence into a classic beach house while retaining much of the original two-story floor layout. Some additional living area was created by repurposing the space formerly occupied by a two-car garage, and the new ground level now consists largely of garage, storage, and outdoor living areas toward the rear of the home. Design updates reference both rustic modern and traditional styles. The exterior features western red cedar shingle siding paired with composite trim and railings, while Ipe decking adds a durable surface to outdoor spaces. Double-hung windows punctuate the elevations, bringing light to the renovated interiors. Landscape elements, designed by LanDesign, anchor the residence to its coastal setting.
