Canon Residence

Canon Residence is a renovation of the 1959 Thompson Mosley House in Pasadena, originally designed by Buff, Straub & Hensman. Space International Inc. led the project with a brief to update the dwelling while preserving its architectural character and layout. The remodel focuses on enhancing functional and spatial connections within the postwar structure, maintaining the distinctive planning principles of the original home. Central to the intervention is a newly introduced interior core positioned along the main axis of the house. This organizational element employs natural materials to create a focal point that strengthens the link between internal spaces and the outdoor areas framed by the pinwheel layout. The approach retains the essence of mid-century design while accommodating contemporary use.
