Terry & Terry Architecture — Menlo Park, CA

Bal House by Terry & Terry Architecture is a single-story addition and renovation of a mid-century ranch residence in Menlo Park, California. Designed for a retired couple, the project prioritizes accessibility and connection with the rear garden through an open plan that extends living spaces outdoors. The addition comprises two distinct volumes: a bedroom wing to the west, extended with a wood 'tube' structure for an additional bedroom, and a main space to the east housing kitchen, dining, and media areas. These volumes gradually diverge from the core of the house, creating a glass-clad fissure that introduces daylight and garden views to the center of the plan.
