Newton Tudor

Newton Tudor is a four-bedroom residence in Newton, Massachusetts, originally constructed in 1932 and comprehensively renovated by Hacin in 2021. The focus was to transform its traditional compartmentalized arrangement into an informal plan suited to a family moving from an urban setting. The renovation involved both architectural and interior updates, integrating all finishes, furniture, and fixtures into a unified design approach. The renovation reorganized the spaces so that rooms now open directly into one another, creating extended visual and physical connections throughout the house. Material and color selections draw from traditional Tudor precedents, with a contemporary reinterpretation achieved through the choice of natural materials and an emphasis on hand-crafted elements. Custom furnishings, carpet, and decorative lighting were chosen to highlight craftsmanship and comfort, maintaining a balance between the house's historic character and the needs of modern family life. The use of repetition and reinterpretation unifies the architectural and interior interventions.
