Modern English Manor

Modern English Manor is a family residence in Buckhead designed by Harrison Design Associates. The commission called for a spacious home suited to a young family transitioning from the city, with an emphasis on openness, daylight, and ease of living. The project references the formality of English manor houses while adapting the typology for contemporary needs and informal daily life. The exterior employs traditional materials—handmade brick, stone, and limestone—arranged in conventional proportions, though the intent is a more relaxed architectural presence. Terraces, porches, and a backyard oriented around a pool provide extended living spaces for outdoor use. Interior spaces are characterized by open connections and an edited palette: white walls, oak floors, and minimal detailing establish a restrained, modern atmosphere. Classical elements like groin-vaulted ceilings and arches are reinterpreted with simplicity, echoing European influences within a lighter, more current context.
