Birchwood Terrace

Birchwood Terrace, located in Brookline, Massachusetts, is a residence designed by LDa Architecture & Interiors for a family with four young children. The brief called for a home that could accommodate a relaxed, family-oriented lifestyle while integrating elements inspired by the owners’ California and French backgrounds. The arrangement of the house is organized around two courtyards that define both the architecture and its relationship to the outdoors. A north-facing garage and parking court and a southern garden with a pool and patio help structure the plan, while courtyards mediate the indoor-outdoor connection. The landscape, shaped by Wagner Hodgson, features a bocce court, a planted roof over the pool wing, and various exterior ‘rooms’ accessible from key living spaces.
