490 Glen Iris

490 Glen Iris is a contemporary residence completed by Lightroom in Atlanta, Georgia in 2022. The project was shaped by an intent to create a calm living environment with a direct relationship to its outdoor setting. A minimalist approach was taken for the exterior, utilizing concrete block construction and extensive glazing to address durability, energy performance, and visual connection with the landscape. Key design moves include a rooftop terrace that provides outdoor space above the main living areas, and a central courtyard accessible from several rooms, serving as the focal point of the home. Interiors feature high ceilings and large glass walls that bring daylight and garden views deep into the plan. Material selections such as wood flooring and stone accents were used to introduce warmth and texture within the modern interior. The layout was designed for adaptability, supporting a range of residential uses and emphasizing openness throughout.
