Skycatcher

Skycatcher is a residential renovation project in Roswell, Georgia, completed by Lightroom. The design response involved updating an existing traditional house to meet a brief prioritizing contemporary openness and stronger connections to the outdoors, while retaining recognizable elements on the street-facing facade. The site allowed for a substantial rear expansion, creating opportunities for interior reconfiguration and outdoor living enhancements. The architecture preserves classic elements along the front elevation, maintaining ties to the surrounding neighborhood. At the rear, the new addition introduces large expanses of glazing overlooking a pool and patio, offering ample daylight and views. The interior adopts an open-plan arrangement, featuring a minimalist staircase, extensive use of wood and glass, and streamlined detailing in kitchen and bathroom areas. Structured landscaping, with stone paths and terraced steps, supports the transition between indoor and outdoor spaces, reinforcing the project's balance of traditional character and modern functionality.
