Leila House

Leila House, designed by Lightroom and completed in 2013, is located in a historic district of Decatur, Georgia. The project brief called for the preservation of the neighborhood's historic character while accommodating new modern living spaces. A key requirement was to keep the site's existing trees intact, influencing the placement and configuration of the addition. The architectural response separates the original house from the new modern addition, which is positioned at the rear of the property. This approach maintains the historic streetscape and allows the intervention to unfold discreetly toward the backyard. A corridor connects the main house to the addition, directing sightlines from the entry through to the outdoor space. The overall design employs a clear spatial sequence and respects both heritage and landscape constraints.
