Rabbit Ridge

Rabbit Ridge is a private residence designed by RGD+B on a 17-acre site in Heath, Texas, approximately 30 minutes from downtown Dallas. The project was shaped by the need to accommodate family life, social gatherings, and recreational activities, with the site featuring a private lake, a full-size basketball court, and sweeping outdoor areas set within a rural landscape. Collaborators on the project included a landscape designer, lighting designer, and interior design teams who contributed to the comprehensive approach. The layout organizes public and private zones to create both secluded and communal environments. The central great room overlooks the pool, lake, and a reflecting pool, providing expansive views outward and serving as the main gathering area. Multiple outdoor terraces and recreation spaces are integrated into the landscape, connecting the interior to its surroundings. Material choices include stone, corten steel panels, board-formed concrete, and wood, employed to give the house an enduring and tactile character. These natural finishes anchor the design, reflecting the family’s background and establishing a calm, grounded atmosphere.
